About Us

Monivea Rugby Football Club was established in 1972 and is the home club of Connacht Rugby’s Scrum-half, Caolin Blade. Located on the periphery of the idyllic Monivea Woods, the grounds consist of two full size pitches, changing rooms, catering and ample parking. The club accommodates children from the age of 6 up to adult players. It is the only Rugby Club for 20km in East Galway and caters to a number of schools in the Monivea and Athenry hinterlands.

Monivea has had great success over the years and helped in no small part by the contribution of coaches like Eddie O’Sullivan, Dan McFarland and John Muldoon.  For a country club within a GAA stronghold, Monivea RFC led the way in Mini Rugby long before it became popular. Membership opens in September.
