The East Galway Family History Society has been involved in family history research and heritage activities for over 25 years and is based in a parish owned building, the Woodford Heritage Centre which dates back to 1834. In addition to family history, the Society has published books, calendars, maps of the area, organised and facilitated family gatherings, seminars and lectures along with providing secretarial and office facilities to other community organisations and clubs in the area. The Society provides customers the opportunity to avail of their in-house experienced family history researchers by either visiting the Woodford Heritage Centre or by sending research requests via email or post. Prior to a visit, it is advisable to ring in advance and make an appointment with a researcher to avoid disappointment.
